Cold Blue Spruce

It feels like -12C today, so we put extra layers on and had a blast in the backyard. This blue spruce is by the entrance of the backyard, and will probably have to be relocated next year as it's getting too big and is now blocking vehicle access to the back.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

1

We bought John a set of 16 books by Roald Dahl recently. He read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory first and insisted that I read it as well. (I'd like to remind you that he's 6.)

So I was today-years-old when I finished reading it for the first time ever in my life. Talk about missing out. What an exceptionally well-written book.

I have now made it a goal for this year to read the other 15 books as well.

Today I caught up with an old colleague via video chat. 💻

The Caged Clam

John wanted to take the photo for today's post. I also asked for his input on what the title should be.

Icy coffee table

Went for a beach walk after work today with the family. You can't tell by this photo but it was +7C.

Shed-y Reflection

Oh how I've missed the cheesy puns of titling my photoblog posts. Today I started my new job. It felt much like the old job, but the week is still young I guess. 😄

A photo a day for 31 days

One month into posting a photo a day. I really like getting the old DSLR out and rekindling the fondness of all of the things about photography we now take for granted having mini photo machines in our pockets at all times. I like the challenge of new ideas and getting things right "in frame" which sometimes includes crawling on my belly to get the right angle. 😄 📷

Upcoming features of this site will include thumbnails in the Photos Archive. Currently it is just a list of titles, which is sufficient for the Writing area but it's not very intuitive for photos.

Thanks for following along in this journey. Here's to an exciting February!

Backyard Coral Reef

John said to me that this looks like a coral reef.

New job: Sales Data Analyst and IT Specialist

1 As of today, I have officially resigned from my job as Senior Programmer Analyst and next week I will start a new role as Sales Data Analyst and IT Specialist.

In this role, I will be part of a global team and will have the opportunity to collaborate with people from all around the world--which I have partially been doing over the past 2 years, but will now be officially my job--to build and deploy some pretty exciting new tools for the company.

I'm very excited and to be honest a bit overwhelmed at the moment.

Snowy Night

11PM last night. The nearly-full moon made this streetlight somewhat dispensable, if not for the spotlight it casted on the gently-falling snow. The street was slient, so silent that it made me conscious of the shutter sounds of my camera.

Birthday Sky

The beach is starting to freeze

We woke up to a beautiful winter day. I love that the landscape of the beach changes every visit. Today we snacked on icicles. 😃

New opportunities have washed ashore. Look out for a post next week.

Spider plants R Us

Spider plants are all over our house. They produce oxygen while purifying the air. They are also cat-friendly. Speaking of cats, we lost Jane 2 years ago today... she would've been 20 this year. 😢

Our growing beach glass collection

Advantages of living by a beach: tons of beach glass. We are on our second jar now.
